| Thanks For The Memories! Many of our visitors will have been friends and neighbors for years, even decades. To you we say, "Thanks for the memories", and may Yahweh bless you with many happy days to come. As opportunity and resources permit, perhaps soon we can share some of the memories that have shaped what we are today. "Yahweh Willing", when you return to this page, in days to come, you will find something new and interesting, from days old and exciting. Who can forget their earliest thoughts on the "Akedah"? (See "Glossary")Check out Isaac-Son Of Promise for a verbal "time capsule" from 1984! (Commentary, page 16 courtesy of Elder Jacob O Meyer, of the Assemblies of Yahweh, Bethel, Pennsylvania, 19507.) (previous episodes as linked, below, in blue; be sure to read all!) The Elder Passes It seems like the end of an era that the directing elder of the Bethel group so recently passed on. There is sadness, in that the finality of the grave means the end of a time of possibility of reconciliation; and now all await the return of our Master from Heaven to set matters straight. They say a living dog is better than a dead lion. Is your humble web administrator the only one who grieves that it appears Elder Meyer was taken away so early in the lifelong process of learning what great things we must suffer for the name of our Elohim (acts9:16)? But actions have consequences, and the natural life has an end. Condolances to the family, and sympathy to the Bethel group. Thanks for the memories. We were invited to the Memorial Service for the departed elder on wednesday. Within the hour, certain ones were asked to leave, "right now". It is sad that there are those so fearful of even a little light penetrating into such a dark place. May the faithful ones among them be strengthened, as they minister to those many "souls in prison". My heart goes out to the misguided "shepherds" who have mistaken oppression for discipline, uniformity for unity, and self-aggrandizement for respect for the Authority from on High. It also goes out to the flock for whom it appears the quest for dignity and excellence is categorically denied. The Name of Yahweh deserves better than that. Coming Soon! Are We Home Yet? Not to gloss over the past, of course. There have been times of strained relationships, and partings of the way. But it takes more than sunny days to make the fields fruitful; without the rains, there is nothing. The hammer blows put the edge on the tools, the abrasion of affliction strips away the dross of corruption, and the pains of rejection are as the prunings of the vine. Until we are perfected, we will need these things. Have a great day! Get out there and make some "blessed memories" for tomorrow! Hopefully we will meet again soon! Your friend and neighbor, Walter HR (hearty regards!) Schwenk. | |
