At long last! Why Islam? Don't feel left out of the Jihad! Get informed now! What should be our response to what appears to be the world's currently most aggressively proselitizing religion? In the news recently, and more compelling than since perhaps the times of the Barbary pirates, "Wars and Rumors of war" is once again spelled "Jihad". For those of us for whom the Bible, the word of Yahweh and his prophets, is our guide to life, the answers are obvious. For our secular (atheist) neighbors, the solution may not seem so readily disernable. Hopefully, they will learn before it is too late how much better instruction (translated "torah" in the Hebrew scriptures) is than the "school of hard knocks". We can beat on Islam all we want, but it isn't going to produce the desired results until we clean up our own back yard, and get right with our maker. Let us all put away our thefts, lies, and fornications, like the good book says, and speak the truth one with another. Coming soon: "Why Islam?". The "rules " have not changed, but circumstances have. How does that affect who should spend our earnings? For another interesting look at the instructions, see "Guest Article." Wanda wrote in, and passed on a catchy jingle; "Jewish things cannot be taught- they must be caught!" We are grateful to our Jewish cousins for the tremendous job they have done preserving the words of the Psalms and Prophets, and the everlasting covenant hinted at in the words of Moses. We try to acquaint others with this point of view, but our sharing of ideas is no where near as important as the others' willingness to hear, test, and perhaps eventually accept them. As has been said, "you catch more flys with honey than with vinegar." Yahweh's way of life as expressed in his written "torah" is indeed restrictive. But our skin restricts where our "insides" go, the basket restricts the bread that is in it, the bag restricts the marbles, and at "break time", the cup restricts our coffee, so that it remains in it's own little place on our desk. And all of these things are good, aren't they? And Yahshua said, "If you remain in my word, then you shall be my disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free!" We can easily avoid the excesses of the Pharisees and Sadducees without forsaking the words of truth from Sinai. Do what Moses said, but do not follow the example of those who come falsely in his name. Of course, only in the loosest sense of the term could this be considered a new thought, but methinks it hath merit; "It has been very kind of Yahweh to give the Jewish people a government of their own; how wonderful it would be if they would in a somewht more tangible and fundamental way return the favor!" In 1948, thanks to Yahweh, the prayers of nearly two millenia culminated in the restoration of the State of Israel. This, in spite of the fact that, to this very day, many will protest, "This is not what we asked for!" But for how much longer must we wait for those whose prerogative it is to give glory to Yahweh by affirming his Kingdom? Is it not in ceasing from sin, and doing what is good that the power of the eternal holy kingdom is affirmed? Those of us who have been blessed to sojourn in this land of unprecedented freedom: it should be at the very least that we give Yahweh rule in our heart and personal affairs. Let us do our utmost to affirm ourselves as part of the remnant for whom the instructions from Yahweh are our plan for each day, as we patiently await our redemption. We can hardly help but commend the "gay" community, and their affiliates for their success through hard work and perseverence in insinuating themselves into what is essentially an elite status in the American "pecking order". Perhaps while others were spending their money making the next generation, many of them were spending their money on political activities to procreate their lifestyle in other ways. In the spirit of inclusivity we have taken the liberty to write a few notes that will hopefully cause some of them to temper their spirit of abandon. The freedom of TORAH is open to all. Every sin can be forgiven, except the refusal to accept forgiveness. It is our hope to present the concept of forgiveness here in a favorable and desireable light. Click here to read more. Just got back from the "Sacred Name" Unity Conference, this year hosted by the Assembly of Yahweh, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Many thought provoking and interesting presentations were made, including a brief synopsis of some of the material presented here in "After the Last Trial", entitled "A Parable on Genesis 22". Criticism was robust, and from time to time there was lively debate. That is as it should be. When our teachings can pass the test of the judgement of our peers, then we can hope that we might find favor with our Elohim too. If we cannot pass the test of examination by our peers, how will we possibly endure the final trial at the great white throne?
