Going up!  All components planed and tapered on site, from dimensional lumber.
Posts chamfered with hand tools, by eye. A one-of-a-kind rustic staircase. Treads sealed
one coat only, rest to be customer varnished.

Cutouts in floor tile indicate previous location of log stringers.

...up!     We debated whether to use 10" or 12" stringers. A bit bulkier than needed,
but gave the corner post added stability.
Simple but elegant; the partial corner chamfering diminishes from the visual impact
of the posts. Done by "eye", with hand tools, on site.

...and to the top!  Previous construction was of 10"-12" logs, with split logs for treads.
The design used space inefficiently, and the joinery was evidently hurried.
Apologies for the "unmade" bed; the carpenter folded the cover back, so that
he wouldn't get it dirty while working. He was setting tools on the floor under it.

And last but not least, where the "LUMBER MEETS THE LOGS!" Perfect fit, as usual.
View from under steps, looking toward top. All treads dado jointed into the stringers,
for strength and appearance. My nicest stairway ever; a real joy to do.
