| Our Troops support Ron Paul, let's support our troops... Lets get the word out for Ron Paul as candidate for President. We know his stance for sound economic policy, limited government, reduced taxes, non-interventional foreign policy, and faithfulness to the US constitution. Some have misrepresented his blunt truthfulness as "hatefulness" or racial prejudice. This has been an exciting summer so far... with two relatively new project experiences. The first was the custom intallation of client supplied doors in Job-fabricated finish frames. We milled the frames on-site from southern yellow pine two inch thick planks, to give a unique and custom sized frame, exactly suited to the thickness of the wall and peripheral trim. The combination of full dimension finish frames, "Q-lon" style weatherstrip, and traditional style wood threshold may be a first in construction history. Contact us for details for that special custom door of yours that deserves the "best" in a new frame. That job was followed by our first Porch Rescreening Project, which went well with a new product we tried, "Pet Screen", touted as the ultimate in durability and resiliance in bug and pet resistant screening. Vinyl coated polyester, with heavy-duty strands, looks like it will really do the job. Contact us if your old metal or fiberglass screening is not standing up. Thanks customers! After a very slow business 2008 and 2009, the increased activity of 2010 has been very welcome. The pace of inquiries this fall has been a real surprise, and have been a bit hard to keep up with. Please be patient, we are working through the tasks as quickly as possible, and if you can wait, you will receive the usual top quality no-compromise workmanship Schwenk Carpentry has built a reputation for. Keep an eye on the several candidates who won places, either in the legislature, or in our hearts; sometimes both. Let's not permit apathy and complacency to masquerade as patience. The likes of Sam Rohrer for Governor, Peg Luksik for US Senator, and Russ Diamond for Lt. Governor are still worthy of our support for their integrity and vision. Do not forget them when the winners of the popular vote betray their trust. There will be another time and place for the victory of those who have kept the faith. With the down turned economy, many are turning to repairs rather than remodels, renovations rather than alterations. George Schwenk graduated from his Academy with the Silver Medal of the class. Technically, he was an "Historical Painter", his "bread and butter" being murals of historic scenes, portrayed on the interior walls of public buildings. His home base was Dresden, so most of his murals no doubt perished in the war with the fire bombing. At least one work was done in London, and may have survived. His art permitted him to frugally raise a family, most of which came to the new world between 1911 and the early 30's. He stayed behind, but died a couple years before WWII started. His daughter Rose went back just before it broke out, and rescued the portraits, postcards, etc of his work that will be sampled on our "Old World Art" page. This page is dedicated to his blessed memory, and that of his son, my father Walter Sr, who urgently wished to make his life work of beauty and inspiration available for the edification of the world.
